Dexter Season 5 Spoilers & Predictions
Jane Boursaw of AOL TV has made predictions for how Dexter Season 5 could lift after Rita's horrendous murder. Which of these appear reasonable and could make for a good season of television?
1. Dexter will still be a family man, because he'll have baby Harrison, as well as Rita's kids. If the writers are truly going to re-set things, though, it seems like they'll at least shuffle the older kids off with the grandparents (although ... wasn't Rita's mother estranged? Perhaps they worked things out before they picked up the kids in the finale).
2. Dexter will be angry at the world and himself. He's not only lost his connection with Rita, but also his weird connection with the Trinity Killer. They're really not as different as he might have imagined. This is, in fact, his fate. This is who he is. As Hall noted in the live chat, "Undoubtedly, Dexter is permanently changed going forward because of what Trinity has done, because of Rita's murder. And I think for the first time, that Dexter will be saddled with this appetite for vengeance that can't be sated. Perhaps he'll slam shut every door he's opened in terms of his vulnerable, emotional human self."
3. Dexter will cut and run because of the questions surrounding Rita's murder. How will he explain it to Debra and the world? She's getting ever closer to lifting the veil on his secret life, and Rita's death -- and the way she was murdered -- will undoubtedly bring up lots of questions, especially now that Debra knows Dexter's true heritage.
4. Dexter will be a totally changed man, because he won't want Harrison to go through the same fate as him. When Dexter saw Harrison crying in that pool of blood, it was as if history was repeating itself in the next generation. Could Dexter really be a white picket-fence guy with no "dark passenger"? Maybe we'll see him struggling with a lifestyle makeover.

it wasn't rita's parents that took the kid's to disney world, it was paul's parents...
other options for season 5 are
1) Dexter wakes from a dream, but that is rather boring, predictable & been done in so many other shows or
2) Dexter could completely lose his mind by the overwhelming way Rita died & the fact that he had a chance to kill Trinity earlier & didnt therefore some of the guilt must be his. His mind could shut down all things 'dark passenger' related and Dexter could become 'tragic Dexter' with no recall of his dark deeds. Season 5 could be about Dexter finding the 'real' Dexter again
well, the season will start off at the Dexter house, with it set up to be a crime scene.
Dexter feels that Rita was having an affair with Elliott and pays him a visit. (That is how the scene was written) BUT....... thanks to negotiations gone bad, the use of the property known as "Elliott's house" will not be allowed, so the scene has to be re-written.

I would like to see Dexter go a little crazy...multiple kills as he tries to work out his guilt over Rita's fate.
Also, I put it out there that just possibly "Trinity" DID NOT kill Rita... what about Elliot?

I absolutely love DEXTER. I agree with NewToDEXTER, I want to see Dex go crazy!!! And maybe it wasn't Trinity.... that would totally make it more interesting for me !!
i always wondered if it was Dexter who killed Rita. He was having some issues remembering things after the car accident...who knows - maybe his father talking to him over and over about how his family is tying him down made Dexter kill her but not "remember" it. That was my first thought. Second was Trinity killed her but I think that is too simple to be what actually happened.
it had to be trinity because of the bathtub.... i mean unless NewTODEXTER is right about someone being a copy cat killer.
i do think it may have been trinity, while dexter was at his house trinity went and killed rita. there is a time gap, time enough for dexter to have gotten to the mustang before trinity did. where was he in between? i saw the new trailer, and the season kicks off with him delving into homosexuality, perhaps as a way to deal with the pain of loseing rita? i hope that is not a permanent thing tho. i do think debra is going to learn the secret of what dexter really is. shes already suspicious of him. and since he will be the number one suspect, he will have to tell her it was trinity, and the reason why it was trinity. i have alot more theories on the new season
I dont think that debra will find out about dexters dark passanger that would ruin everything , trinity could have killed rita but halso might not have it may well have been a copycat killer as somone above me sugested, it may well have been elliot, but i think it would be a bit extreme wich isnt what dexter is about. I also dont think there will be a serial killer as such in this season via dexter of course, there may well be some murders but this season is about ritas murder, im not sure what to make of the kids he might keep them ,the grandparents or ...adoption (I really hope not,
dexter will greve for a long time not giving him strength or passion to kill, over time he will get over it and try to find some sort of justice or get peice of mind, frankly i can not wait for the 5th season to arrive its going to be absolutely amazing
I also believe that it was the creepy neighbor that killed Rita,not trinity.Didn't it show in the news how the trinity victims died.he was trying to make it look like a copycat.Hmmm??

Well, it would be interesting to see if the writers let Debra discover Dexter's dark secret.It is about time that she woke up and smelled the coffee. Maybe this is something that would be a nice change in the development of the series.
i think dexter has handled similar incident in past so he wont go crazy.he will also not undergo a personality change because this incident only vidicates his actions. and dexter cant kill rita, when he said " it was me", he probably meant that his son faced the same situation which he once did. however, quinn is getting too close for comfort and i think he will be one of people killed if he does not find something else to do which will be a shame because he is an interesting actor.
